Author Biography

Joseph Poveromo has a PhD and MS in Chemical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Center for Process Metallurgy, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is an internationally recognized steel industry authority on the technical and economic aspects of ironmaking (blast furnace and direct reduction), ironmaking raw materials (iron ore, coke) including sintering and pelletizing processes, iron ore mining, processing & properties, as indicated by his extensive client base, publications, presentations and honors.

He is a member of AIST, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Eastern States Blast Furnace & Coke Oven Association, the Society of Mining Engineers and the Iron & Steel Institute of Japan.

Dr. Poveromo has been President at RMI (Raw Materials & Ironmaking) Global Consulting since 1993. Prior to that he was in Research Development at Bethlehem Steel Corporation for almost 20 years.
