The roundtable on 14 March will discuss The future of healthcare and wellness: market opportunities for printed and organic electronics. Panellists include representatives from the IoT and wearables business at Microsoft, IoT design agency Vectorform, and developers of printed electronic technologies and products for healthcare and wellbeing applications.
Hosting the roundtable will be Dan Rogers, Head of Publishing at Smithers Apex, which provides technology and market consultancy services for the printed and organic electronics industry.
The 45-minute panel discussion will address the latest trends and future opportunities for electronics and data in healthcare and wellbeing applications, as well as the challenges of developing systems to meet these emerging requirements.
Smithers Apex forecasts major growth opportunities for printed and organic electronics in the coming years: the market report The Future of Functional and Industrial Print to 2022 estimates the total market for printed electronics at $28.8 billion in 2017, and forecasts rapid growth at a compound annual rate of 10.7% to 2022, reaching a market value of $47.8 billion.
Rogers comments: “The printing of electronics is an emerging technology that opens up a host of design opportunities and will lead to the creation of a range of future electronic applications in many sectors. Printed electronics allows electronic functionality to be delivered on a far wider range of substrates than conventional rigid electronic fabrication methods. It will enable products with a cost and functionality that conventional electronic structures cannot deliver.”
The panel discussion forms part of a packed agenda at LOPEC 2018, which takes place on 13-15 March 2018 in Munich, Germany.
