Industrial biotechnology and the biobased economy are essential to develop a society which is far less dependent on fossil fuels for energy and materials. However the shift to a biobased economy is not something an individual company can do alone. First of all innovation and the supporting innovation policies are key drivers to develop a competitive and sustainable biobased economy, and cooperation with other companies from other sectors (e.g. chemical industry, energy sector, food and agro industry) is essential. Besides policy, legislation and incentives, public funding also plays an important role to get the biobased economy out of the starting blocks.
During this webinar an analysis will be made of the major initiatives, illustrated with some concrete examples.
